My encouragement today is that when your expectations for the summer aren’t panning out, take those expectations, hand them back to God, and let God reshape them.
Clearly there is a lot of brotherly love, and no fighting over colored pencils going on over here, but in all seriousness I am encouraged by how they are encouraging each other. My bigs help my little by writing the verse for him and then helping him highlight it in his own "prayer journal".
They are also wearing temporary tattoos of scripture in these pics! So cool! They are made with all soy based ink and sold at armedwithtruth.com, and they are so fantastic. This week they are wearing and memorizing Hebrews 11:1. You can order tons of different scriptures or even 10 packs and they are reasonably priced. Wearing God’s word on your person is a great reminder to fix your eyes on the truth!
My bigger kids have been praying parts of these verses in their journal. FYI: it’s a fun thing to let them do at night right before they fall asleep. It literally takes moments and makes them feel like they got to stay up late!
My friend Denise shared a cool way that God used the first weeks verse from Proverbs for her son to pray over his school decisions for next year. He got to see how God worked that particular verse into his week, just for him.
I have prayed over all the families that asked for a copy of this summer reading plan, and I intend to keep praying for God to show off. I have been really encouraged in how God has showed up since we started this, if you have a cool story or encouragement, please share them with us!
If you haven’t gotten a copy and want the material I am referring to, just leave me your email in the comments and I’ll send it to you. You can also check out my last post for more details of what we are doing.
